Introduction

Jiangmen International Container Terminals (JMCT) lies close to the Jiangmen High and New Technology Development Zone on the Xijiang River, some 40 nautical miles upstream from Macau and 99 nautical miles from Hong Kong. It offers handling services for both container and general cargo.

As the principal city and distribution centre in the western Pearl River Delta, Jiangmen offers extensive road connections throughout the entire industrial region. The city is also renowned as an important manufacturing centre for household electrical appliances, freight containers and motorcycles.

Since it opened in 1995, JMCT has completed ten warehouses with a total area of 10,000 square metres, with half being over 1,500 square metres in size. JMCT is also capable of handling reefer and dangerous cargo, using X-ray machines and CCTV systems to facilitate cargo inspection and on-site customs clearance at the terminal. Other services include customs broking, forwarding, trucking, container repair and cargo consolidation. Additionally, JMCT provides feeder services to Hong Kong and has extended its feeder service network to Shenzhen and Nansha. This includes warehouses (customs and bank surveillance functions) and on-dock container repair services. Off-dock warehousing is also available.

JMCT regularly improves its efficiency and services by upgrading its container management and electronic gatehouse systems.
