Hongkong International Terminals (HIT) is the flagship operator of HPH. It was established in 1969 and was diversified from the century-old Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock Company. HIT moved into new facilities at Terminal 4 of Kwai Tsing Port in 1976. Today, HIT operates 14 berths at Terminals 4, 6, 7, 9 and 8 East (a joint-venture with COSCO Pacific), which have depths alongside of 14.2 to 15.5 metres and the capability to handle the largest container ships.
HIT handles the majority of Kwai Tsing Port's yearly container traffic. It also leads the way in the development of the port's resources, facilities and workforce to ensure the smooth and efficient handling of container cargoes.
HIT is the centre of excellence of the HPH port network, setting the benchmarks for the productivity, efficiency, management and service advantages that form the basis of the Group's reputation. The facility is also the source of many leading technological advancements.
At the heart of HIT's operations is its state-of-the-art terminal management system – nGen. This system is adaptable to different terminals regardless of size and volume, to ensure the world's shipping lines receive world-class service. |
