London Thamesport (LTP) was acquired by Hutchison Ports (UK) in 1998. It is a two-berth deep-water port located on the River Medway in southeast England. As the only automated port in the UK, and with nearby intermodal connections, LTP is ideally positioned to serve as a port of entry for UK-bound container traffic. Lying ten miles from the M2 and 35 miles east of London, LTP provides fast road and rail links to the UK's important manufacturing and distribution centres.
LTP offers highly automated secure container yards and operates four fully equipped bonded warehouses, as well as a dedicated customs freight station incorporating a border-inspection post for customs checks.
The most distinctive feature of the terminal is the unique automated magazine system, which allows containers to be segregated prior to loading onto a vessel, thereby optimising shipside operational efficiency. |
