Introduction

Gdynia Container Terminal (GCT) is a full-service container and heavy-lift handling facility, located in the Port of Gdynia on the coast of the southern Baltic Sea where 70 percent of Polish sea-borne containerised cargo is handled. GCT serves as a feeder port connecting Poland with hubs in Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Rotterdam as well as a load centre for Polish exports to the United Kingdom.

With its entry into the European Union in 2004, Poland has been experiencing greatly increased trade flows and has reported significant container growth. These developments have facilitated GCT's transition into the region's premier port of call.

GCT enjoys excellent road and rail connections. Notably, the elevated highway link with the Tri-City Bypass and the North-South A-1 Highway add to GCT's competitive advantage in terms of accessibility to the hinterland.

GCT is undergoing phased development, tailor-made to market needs. Stage I was completed in 2006, and Stage II became operational in March 2009.
