DeCeTe Duisburger Container Terminal (DCT) is the busiest inland port in the world. It is the ideal hub for transport between the North Sea, Germany's Ruhr industrial heartland, and the rest of Europe. Around 12 million consumers live and work in a 100-kilometre radius of the inland terminal. DCT serves as a hub for this market as well as an excellent starting point for outbound European cargo.
The inland terminal is connected to the container terminals at Rotterdam by regular barge and rail shuttles. It is also directly connected with the seaports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge. Pre-transport and post-transport in the region are handled by efficient trucking services. Since DCT is also a shortsea terminal, direct linkage to the UK ports of Tilbury and Goole, via the Rhine and the North Sea, is also available.
Its full range of logistics activities include the pick-up of containers at the seaport by barge or train, handling and storage at the inland terminal, and delivery to the final destination. Additional services include short-term and long-term storage of full containers (including hazardous cargo), a depot for empty containers, maintenance, repairs and cleaning. DCT can also handle customs formalities. |
